Redbridge CC  Club Rides List:    16th August 2015 – 20th September  2015Sunday Rides start 08.15 from Redbridge Cycling Centre.  (09.15 on 20th September)

Sunday Social Rides  (All rides depart 08.15 at Redbridge Cycling Centre)                         Bronze rides: vary between 40 – 50 mile  and will return Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 12.30 – 13.30.     Approximate average speed 12 – 13 mph.                           Silver rides: vary between 50 – 65 miles will return Redbridge Cycling Centre approximately 14.00 – 14.30 hours. Approximate Av speed 13 – 15 mph.  Occasionally a silver ride might be an all-day ride with a distance approximately 65 – 70 miles returning Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 15.30 – 16.00 hours.                                               Gold rides: held most Sundays. They are non-stop and will be around 50 – 60 miles around mid-Essex or East Essex. Approximate Av speed 16 – 18 mph.

NOTE.  All those taking part in rides must have with them the following:  pump, spare inner tube with valve of the correct length, puncture outfit, tyre levers, lightweight tool kit and club membership card.

New Members.  New members with previous experience of group riding are always welcome.  Prior to departure you will need to complete a temporary membership form which will be given to you by the ride leader. This will give you free third party insurance whilst on the ride.  After three rides you will be required to join the club.  IMPORTANT. We advise anyone with little or no experience of group cycling to take part in one of our monthly Saturday Introductory rides before you go on a Sunday Club ride.  Also, the ride leader may wish to cycle one lap of the cycling circuit with new members to ascertain their fitness and experience of group riding before commencing a Sunday ride.                            Sunday 16th August.  Meet 08.15
Bronze Ride.   A tour of the Greens:  Cooks Mill, Radley, Wall’s and Pigstye then through Norton Mandevill to Delimores Café, Ongar. Return via Toot Hill.
Silver Ride.  Through Roxwell to Brett’s Buttery, White Roding. Return via Matching Green. 65 miles
Gold Ride.   55 mile non-stop ride around the mid-Essex lanes

Sunday 23rd Aug.  Meet 08.15  (Sharp) to ride to Stratford International Railway Station for the 10 minute journey on High Speed South Eastern train to Ebbsfleet International Station (3 miles west of Gravesend)
Bronze Ride.  North Kent.  Circular tour start and finish Ebbsfleet.  40 miles
Optional Bronze ride to mid-Essex.  40 miles
Silver Ride.   North Kent   Circular tour start and finish Ebbsfleet. 50 miles
Gold ride.  55 – 60 mile non-stop ride around mid-Essex.

Sunday 30th Aug.  Meet 08.15
Bronze Ride.  Through the lanes around Stapleford Tawney and Epping to Waltham Abbey, The Apollo Café, Sun Street.  Return via the Gunpowder Park and High Beech.  40 miles.
Silver Ride.  Through the Hertfordshire lanes to Tewin, The Country Bumpkin Café. 70 miles.  Return via Stapleford, Wadesmill, Much Hadham, Sawbridgeworth (optional stop for refreshments), Sheering, Matching Green, Moreton, Toot Hill, Passingford Bridge to Redbridge Cycling Centre.
Gold Ride.   50 – 55 mile non-stop circuit of mid-Essex.

Sunday 6th Sept.  Meet 08.15.                                         
Bronze ride. Short ride to Roxwell (on the Old Roxwell Road just off the A1060) for refreshments at the finish of the club championship 25.  45 miles
Silver Ride.  Long ride to Roxwell (on the Old Roxwell Road just off the A1060) and onto Danbury or possibly Maldon via the Chelmsford cycleways.
No gold ride.

Sunday 13th Sept.  Meet 08.15.
Bronze Ride.   Short ride to Leaden Roding for refreshments at the finish of the club 2-up 10 mile team time trial.  Return via Good Easter and Berners Roding. 45 miles
Silver Ride.   Long ride to Leaden Roding for refreshments at the finish of the club 2-up 10 mile team time trial.  Return via High Easter, Pleshey and the Chignals.  65 mles.
No gold ride.

Sunday 20th September.  Meet 09.15. (NOTE, change of start time)
Bronze ride.   Ingatestone, Pierros café.
Silver Ride.  Maldon.  Refreshment stop to be arranged.                                                 Gold Ride.  50 – 55 miles through the mid-Essex lanes.

Saturday Training Rides.                                                                                                   40 mile training rides are held every Saturday Morning, leaving 09.30 from the Cycling Centre. The route is always the same:  Abridge – Toot Hill – Moreton – Fyfield – Willingale – Walls Green – Pigstye Green – Norton Heath – Nine Ashes – Kelvedon Hatch – Navestock – Shonks Mill – Stapleford Abbots – Lamborne End.  NOTE, these are training rides where, unlike Sunday social rides, we don’t wait for stragglers.

Wednesday Rides                                                                                                           These leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.30. Approximately 40 – 50 miles. Various routes. Contact Paul O’Kelly or Frank Smartt on membership@redbridgecyclingclub.co.uk by the previous Tuesday evening so either can advise the ride leader of the number of people turning up.

  1. Hi I am moving back to wanstead in september and am looking for a friendly group. I would be a novice and wondered how fast your introductory rides would go?

    You are very welcome to join us on our next introductory ride, which has now been put back to August 18th. The average speed will be around 12 – 13 mph and we wont leave anyone behind.
