Sunday Club Rides.
Most rides depart Redbridge Cycling Centre, Hog Hill, Hainault at 9.15 am. Some rides will coincide with the finish of club time trials out in Essex and will depart earlier from the Redbridge Cycling centre. For further information contact Paul O’Kelly
Non-members are welcome but those with limited experience of group riding should arrive at 9.00 am. for a practice lap of the circuit at the cycling centre to establish level of ability and for safety instruction.
May 19th. Leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 9.15 am. Social Ride: Through Navestock and Pilgrims Hatch to Pierros Coffee House Ingatestone. Return via Blackmore and Kelvedon Hatch Total distance approximately 40 miles. Arrive back Redbridge Cycling Centre appox. 1.45 pm.
All-day Ride. For those wishing to make this an all-day ride there will an opportunity to ride on from Ingatestone to see the finish of the Eastern Region Road Race Championships on Radar Hill near Woodham Ferrers. We will then ride back to Redbridge Cycling Centre via Danbury, The Haningfields and Blackmore. No lunch stop, bring a packed lunch. Tea stop, probably in Blackmore. Total mileage approximately 65 – 70 miles depending on route home.
Non – Stop Ride. Approximate Distance 40 miles. Arrive back Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 12.30 pm.
26th May 2013. Start time 9.15 am from Redbridge Cycling Centre.
Social Ride. Sawbridgeworth, The Shed Coffee House (Near Sawbridgeworth Railway Station in the Maltings). Approximate distance approximately 45 miles. Arrive back Redbridge Cycling Centre approximately 2.15 pm.
Non – Stop Ride. Approximate Distance 40 miles. Arrive back Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 12.30 pm.
2nd June 2013 start time 9.15 am from Redbridge Cycling Centre
Social Ride. Leave 9.15 am. Writtle Tea Rooms (opposite Writtle Agricultural College) approximately 45 miles. Arrive back Redbridge Cycling Centre 1.30 pm.
Non – Stop Ride. Approximate Distance 40 miles. Arrive back Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 12.30.
9th June 2013. (Coinciding with the Redbridge Cycling Centre Open day) Introductory Ride. Those new to cycling very welcome. Start 9.30 am from Redbridge Cycling Centre. Discover our local country lanes and places of interest north of the London Borough of Redbridge. Ride includes a cafe stop. Distance 20 -25 miles. No one will be left behind.
Social Ride. Leave 9.15 am. The cafe by the Lake, Haningfield Reservoir, South Haningfield, approximately 50 miles. Arrive back Redbridge Cycling Centre 2.15 pm.
Non – Stop Ride. Approximate Distance 40 miles. Arrive back Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 12.30.
16th June 2013. The Annual Dennis Bayford MemorialClub Sportive. (Note Start Venue: North Weald Village Hall, CM16 6BU) How fast are you over 100 km.? Find out by riding the Club 100 km Sportive. Start and Finish at North Weald Village Hall (CM16 6BU) 10.00 am where there are no hills of any note near the start.
Certificates awarded to all those completing the course in under FIVE hours. Entry Fee £3.00 including hearty bowls of soup and rhubarb crumble when you finish at 17 North Weald High Road (opposite the Kings head Pub in North Weald). The route is as follows: Start at North Weald Village Hall 10.00 am. Morton – Fyfield – Birds Green – Margaret Roding - High Easter – Pleshey – Howe street – Felstead – (stay on B1417) to – Blake House Craft Centre – Great Saling – Shalford – Wethersfield – Finchingfield – (CHECK 1)- Great Bardfield – (LOOK VERY CAREFULLY FOR THIS SIGNPOST) – Little Bardfield – Thaxted – (CHECK 2) (LOOK VERY CAREFULY FOR THIS SIGNPOST) – Broxted – Molehill Green – Takely - Hatfield Heath – Matching Green – High Laver – North Weald.
IMPORTANT. The route is designed so that when you reach one destination the next will be shown on a public signpost. i.e. When you reach Gt. Saling there will be a sign pointing to Shalford. To prove you have covered the course and distance you will be required to answer some questions at various checkpoints on the route. (e.g who is the proprietor of the butchers shop in …………. Village.). So bring with you a pen or pencil so that you write answers on the question sheet provided.
23rd June 2013 start time 9.15 am from Redbridge Cycling Centre. Social Ride: Through Debden and Loughton to Waltham Abbey and The Apollo Café, Sun Street. Return via Upshire and Epping. Arrive back Redbridge Cycling Centre approximately 1.30 pm Distance approximately 35 miles.
All-Day Ride. There will be an opportunity for those wishing to carry on from Waltham Abbey for an all-day ride, into Hertfordshire. Probable route Newgate Street, Bayford, bypassing Hertford and Ware on their north sides, returning to Redbridge via Barwick Ford, Sawbridgeworth, Sheering, Moreton and TootHill. (Approximate distance 75 – 80 miles)
