Club Rides

Sunday Club Rides. 13th April – 18th May 2014
IMPORTANT:  It is expected that participants on our club rides wear an approved hardshell helmet. For further information contact Frank Smartt at

All rides leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 9.00 for 9.15am departure and then 9.30 am at Chigwell Row

Sunday 13th April
Early Ride to the Club Time Trial. For those wishing to ride out to the club 10 mile time trial in Leaden Roding, (which starts at 9.00 am) either to spectate, compete in or help, there will be a group ride leaving Chigwell Row 7.30am (sharp).  NOTE the Cycling Centre opens at 9.00 so it will not be possible to leave from the Centre at this time – hence meeting at Chigwell Row..
Social Ride: Silver ride, White Roding (Bretts Buttery) 45 miles. Bronze Ride, 35 – 40 miles. Destination to be decided on the day (possibly the White Hart, Moreton for teas or coffees).
Non- stop ride (Gold Riders)   45 miles.
Sunday 20th April
Social Ride: Silver Ride, Long ride to Norton Heath Café, approximately 45 miles. Bronze ride: short ride to Norton Heath Café, approximately 40 miles.
Non-stop ride (Gold riders) 45 miles

Sunday 27th April
Social Ride:   Silver ride, long ride via Old Church Hill Laindon to South Weald Park, near Brentwood, approximately 50 miles  Bronze ride, short ride to South Weald Park. Approximately 35 miles.
Non-stop ride (Gold riders):  45 miles.  Return Redbridge Cycling centre approx. 12.30 – 12.45 pm.

Sunday 4th May
Social Ride: Silver ride, long ride to North Weald Station (Anglia Coach Café) approximately 45 miles. Bronze ride, short ride to North Weald station, approximately 35 miles.
Non-stop ride (Gold riders):  50 miles.

Sunday 11th May.
Early Ride to the Club Time Trial. For those wishing to ride out to the club 10 mile time trial at Leaden Roding (which starts at 8.00 am) either to spectate, compete in or help, there will be a group ride leaving Chigwell Row 6.45am (sharp).  NOTE the Cycling Centre opens at 9.00 am so it will not be possible to leave from the Centre at this time – hence meeting at Chigwell Row.
Social Ride: Silver Ride: Writtle Tea Rooms (opposite Writtle Agricultural College). Approximately 55 miles. Bronze ride: Blackmore approximately 40 miles.
Non-stop ride (Gold riders) 50 miles.  Return Redbridge Cycling Centre 12.30 – 12.45 pm.

Sunday 18th May.
Social Ride:  South Haningfield. The Café by the Water (Haningfield Reservoir). Approx. distance 55 miles. Bronze ride The café at the Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker, approximate distance 35 mies.
Non-stop ride (Gold Riders) 50 miles Return Redbridge Cycling Centre 12.30 – 12.45 pm.

Other Rides.  From time to time there will be additional rides throughout the week. These will be notified on the web-site, via e-mail to cliub members and on the club’s Facebook page.

  1. Hi I am moving back to wanstead in september and am looking for a friendly group. I would be a novice and wondered how fast your introductory rides would go?

      You are very welcome to join us on our next introductory ride, which has now been put back to August 18th. The average speed will be around 12 – 13 mph and we wont leave anyone behind.
