Redbridge CC  Club Rides List:    28th June 2015 – 2nd August  2015

NOTE:  Sunday Rides NOW start 08.15 from Redbridge Cycling Centre.

Sunday Social Rides  (All rides depart 08.15 at Redbridge Cycling Centre)                         Bronze rides: vary between 40 – 50 mile  and will return Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 12.30 – 13.30.     Approximate average speed 12 – 13 mph.                           Silver rides: vary between 50 – 65 miles will return Redbridge Cycling Centre approximately 14.00 – 14.30 hours. Approximate Av speed 13 – 15 mph.  Occasionally a silver ride might be an all-day ride with a distance approximately 65 – 70 miles returning Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 15.30 – 16.00 hours.                                               Gold rides: held most Sundays. They are non-stop and will be around 50 – 60 miles around mid-Essex or East Essex. Approximate Av speed 16 – 18 mph.

NOTE.  All those taking part in rides must have with them the following:  pump, spare inner tube with valve of the correct length, puncture outfit, tyre levers, lightweight tool kit and club membership card.

New Members.  New members with previous experience of group riding are always welcome.  Prior to departure you will need to complete a temporary membership form which will be given to you by the ride leader. This will give you free third party insurance whilst on the ride.  After three rides you will be required to join the club.  IMPORTANT. We advise anyone with little or no experience of group cycling to take part in one of our monthly Saturday Introductory rides before you go on a Sunday Club ride.  Also, the ride leader may wish to cycle one lap of the cycling circuit with new members to ascertain their fitness and experience of group riding before commencing a Sunday ride.                                                                                                                        .

Meet 08.00 for 08.15 departure                                                   Bronze Ride.   The Apollo Cafe  Waltham Abbey . 45 miles                                                   Silver Ride.   .Roydon Mill, the Marina Cafe.   60 miles                                                           Gold Ride.   50 – 60 mile non-stop ride around mid-Essex.

Sunday 5th July. Meet 08.00 for 08.15 departure.                                                       Bronze Ride.  Ongar Delimores Cafe .  45 miles                                                                 .   Silver Ride. The Cafe at Cammas Hall Fruit Farm, near Hatfield Broad  60 miles                 Gold ride.  55 – 60 mile non-stop ride around mid-Essex.

Sunday 12th July.  Meet 08.15 for 08.15 departure.                                                   Bronze ride.  Writtle         45 – 50 miles                                                                                     Silver Ride.  Writtle           60 – 65 miles                                                                                   Gold Ride.  60 miles non-stop around the Danbury area.

Sunday 19th July. Meet 08.00 for 08.15 departure
Bronze Ride.  Norton Heath Cafe.  45 miles
Silver Ride.  Long ride to Norton Heath.  60 miles
Gold Ride.  60 miles non-stop around the mid-Essex lanes

Sunday 26th July.   Meet 08.00 for 08.15 departure
Bronze Ride.  Cafe on the Water, Hanningfield Reservoir.  55 miles
Silver Ride.  the Cafe at Papermill Lock,  Little Baddow. Midway between Hatfield Peveral and Danbury.  70 miles
Gold Ride.   60 miles non-stop mid – Essex lanes

Sunday 2nd August.
Bronze Ride. Through the Lavers to Delimores Cafe Ongar. 40 miles
Silver Ride. White Roding, Bretts Buttery. 55 miles.
Gold Ride.  55 – 60 mile non-stop around the mid-Essex lanes.

Saturday Training Rides.                                                                                                   40 mile training rides are held every Saturday Morning, leaving 09.30 from the Cycling Centre. The route is always the same:  Abridge – Toot Hill – Moreton – Fyfield – Willingale – Walls Green – Pigstye Green – Norton Heath – Nine Ashes – Kelvedon Hatch – Navestock – Shonks Mill – Stapleford Abbots – Lamborne End.  NOTE, these are training rides where, unlike Sunday social rides, we don’t wait for stragglers.

Saturday Silver Taster Rides Saturday May 23rd – End July. (Not 4th or 18th July)       Intended for club bronze riders who would like to progress to silver rides. Leave Redbridge Cycling Centre. 09.30. The ride will usually be based on the silver ride done the previous week.  The pace will be suited for bronze riders and the leader will act as a ‘sweeper’ making sure n o one is left behind.  Expect to return to RCC 15.00 – 16.00.  There will be one café stop.

Bronze Century Rides.  Saturday 4th and 18th July. Early start – details out soon.

Wednesday Rides                                                                                                           These leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.30. Approximately 40 – 50 miles. Various routes. Contact Paul O’Kelly or Frank Smartt on membership@redbridgecyclingclub.co.uk by the previous Tuesday evening so either can advise the ride leader of the number of people turning up.

  1. Hi I am moving back to wanstead in september and am looking for a friendly group. I would be a novice and wondered how fast your introductory rides would go?

    You are very welcome to join us on our next introductory ride, which has now been put back to August 18th. The average speed will be around 12 – 13 mph and we wont leave anyone behind.
