Redbridge CC  Club Rides List:    10th  May 2015 – 7th June 2015

NOTE:  Sunday Rides NOW start 08.15 from Redbridge Cycling Centre.

Sunday Social Rides  (All rides depart 08.15 at Redbridge Cycling Centre)                         Bronze rides: vary between 40 – 50 mile  and will return Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 12.30 – 13.30.     Approximate average speed 12 – 13 mph.                           Silver rides: vary between 50 – 65 miles will return Redbridge Cycling Centre approximately 14.00 – 14.30 hours. Approximate Av speed 13 – 15 mph.  Occasionally a silver ride might be an all-day ride with a distance approximately 65 – 70 miles returning Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 15.30 – 16.00 hours.                                               Gold rides: held most Sundays. They are non-stop and will be around 50 – 60 miles around mid-Essex or East Essex. Approximate Av speed 16 – 18 mph.

NOTE.  All those taking part in rides must have with them the following:  pump, spare inner tube with valve of the correct length, puncture outfit, tyre levers, lightweight tool kit and club membership card.

New Members.  New members with previous experience of group riding are always welcome.  Prior to departure you will need to complete a temporary membership form which will be given to you by the ride leader. This will give you free third party insurance whilst on the ride.  After three rides you will be required to join the club.  IMPORTANT. We advise anyone with little or no experience of group cycling to take part in one of our monthly Saturday Introductory rides before you go on a Sunday Club ride.  Also, the ride leader may wish to cycle one lap of the cycling circuit with new members to ascertain their fitness and experience of group riding before commencing a Sunday ride.

Sunday 10th May.  Meet 08.00  for 08.15 departure                                                     Bronze Ride. Circular ride to Norton Heath.  40 miles                                                             No Silver or Gold Ride.   Members are  competing in the club championship 10 mile TT. Leaden Roding or riding in other events.                                                                                 Early Ride out to the Club Championship 10 mile time trial at Leaden Roding.  Leave 7.45 sharp from Chigwell Row.   Route:  Hook Lane, Passingford Bridge, A113, Ongar, B184, Fyfield, Leaden Roding. The start is in the lay-by alongside Leaden Roding School.   NOTE  There will be no leader for this ride.  After the club time trial  head southwards to Norton Heath café to meet the club bronze ride.

Sunday 17th May.  Meet 08.00 for 08.15 departure                                                       Bronze Ride.   Hatfield Forest.  50 miles.                                                                             Silver Ride.  Hatfield Forest. 62miles.                                                                               Gold Ride.   50 – 55 mile non-stop circuit of mid-Essex.

Sunday 24th May . Meet 08.00 for 08.15 departure                                                   Bronze Ride.   Roydon Marina. 50 miles via High Beech, Gunpowder Park, Lee valley Park, Cheshunt, Broxbourne Woods, Bayford, Brickendon, Hoddesdon, Rye House, Roydon.  Return via B181, Thornwood Common, Coopersale,  Theyon Mount, Passingford Bridge, Hook Lane, Lambourne End, RCC.                                                         Silver Ride.   The Shed Coffee House Sawbridgeworth via High Beech, Gunpowder Park, Lee Valley Park, Cheshunt, Broxbourne Woods, Brickendon, Hertford, Watton-at-Stone, Whempstead, Dane End, Barwick Ford, Much Hadham, Sawbridgeworth. Return via Sheering, Newman’s End, Matching Church, Matching Green, Moreton, Toot Hill, Tawney Common, Stapleford Tawney, Passingford bridge, Hook Lane, Lambourne End, RCC.  70 miles.                                                                                                                                 Gold Ride.   50 – 60 mile non-stop ride around mid-Essex.

Sunday 31st May. Meet 08.00 for 08.15 departure.  Ride to Stratford International Station for the ten minute journey by high speed train to Ebbsfleet.   Price £10.00 return.  (Group travel – third off normal return fare)                                                         Bronze Ride.  Eynsford Tearooms, Kent.  Route to be decided. Up to 50 miles.                   Silver Ride. Eynsford Tearooms Kent. 50 miles                                                                       Gold ride.  55 – 60 mile non-stop ride around mid-Essex.

Sunday 7th June.  Meet 08.15 for 08.15 departure.                                                   Bronze ride.  Hanningfield reservoir, Café on the water. South Hanningfield                         Silver Ride.  Papermill Lock, on the river Chelmer midway between Hatfield Peveral and Danbury.   70 miles.                                                                                                             Gold Ride.  60 miles non-stop around the Danbury area.

Saturday Training Rides.                                                                                                   40 mile training rides are held every Saturday Morning, leaving 09.30 from the Cycling Centre. The route is always the same:  Abridge – Toot Hill – Moreton – Fyfield – Willingale – Walls Green – Pigstye Green – Norton Heath – Nine Ashes – Kelvedon Hatch – Navestock – Shonks Mill – Stapleford Abbots – Lamborne End.  NOTE, these are training rides where, unlike Sunday social rides, we don’t wait for stragglers.

Saturday Silver Taster Rides Saturday May 23rd – End July.                                   Intended for club bronze riders who would like to progress to silver rides. Leave Redbridge Cycling Centre. 09.30. The ride will usually be based on the silver ride done the previous week.  The pace will be suited for bronze riders and the leader will act as a ‘sweeper’ making sure n o one is left behind.  Expect to return to RCC 15.00 – 16.00.  There will be one café stop.

Wednesday Rides                                                                                                           These leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.30. Approximately 40 – 50 miles. Various routes. Contact Paul O’Kelly or Frank Smartt on membership@redbridgecyclingclub.co.uk by the previous Tuesday evening so either can advise the ride leader of the number of people turning up.

    You are very welcome to join us on our next introductory ride, which has now been put back to August 18th. The average speed will be around 12 – 13 mph and we wont leave anyone behind.
