Redbridge CC Club Rides:  11th Sept – 13th Nov. 2016

All rides leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 08.15 (From Oct 2nd 09.00)

Sunday Social Rides     All rides leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 08.15 (from Oct 2nd 09.00)                                                                                                                     Bronze ride: 45 –  55 miles and will return Redbridge Cycling Centre approximately 13.30 – 14.00.    Approximate Av speed 12 mph.                                                                         Silver ride: between 60 – 70 miles.  Approximate Av speed 14 – 16 mph.  There will usually be a long and short silver ride often going to the same café. The short ride is ideal for those wishing to be back at Redbridge by about 1.00 – 1.30pm.                                       Gold ride. This is non-stop and will be around 55 – 65 miles around mid-Essex or East Essex. Approximate Av speed 16 – 18 mph. Return Redbridge Cycling Centre approximately 12.30 – 13.30.

Saturday Rides.    Leave 08.15 Redbridge Cycling Centre – From Oct. 1st 09.00)         Forty mile training* and non-training* rides are held every Saturday morning from the Cycling Centre. The route is always the same: Abridge – Toot Hill – Moreton – Fyfield – Willingale – Pigstye Green – Norton Heath – Nine Ashes – Kelvedon Hatch – Navestock – Shonks Mill – Mill Lane – Stapleford Abbotts – Lambourne End.   Average speed: training ride 16 – 18 mph.  Non-training ride 14 – 16 mph.                                                                     *Note the training ride does not wait for stragglers. The non-training ride waits (within reason) for stragglers and stops at Blackmore Tea Rooms for refreshment.

Sunday 11th September                                                                                                    Club 2-up 10 mile team time trial, course E91/10 (Leaden Roding) First team off 09.30.      Early ride out to the event leaves Chigwell Row 07.45.  17.5 miles out to the start.     Bronze Ride.    White Roding, Brett’s Buttery.  45 miles.  Leaves RCC 08.15                       Long Silver Ride.  White Roding, Brett’s Buttery 65 miles, leave RCC 08.15                 Short Silver Ride.  55 mile mystery ride.  Leaves RCC 08.15                                         Gold Ride.   50 – 60 mile non-stop, mid – Essex lanes. Leaves 08.15                    

Sunday 18th September.  All rides return to in time for the Club ‘Fun-Day’ at Redbridge Cycling Centre which starts 1.0 pm.                                                       Bronze Ride.  Mountnessing:  Francesca’s Coffee Shop.  37 miles                                 Long Silver Ride.    Mountnessing:  Francesca’s Coffee Shop.  60 miles
Short Silver Ride.   50 mile mystery ride
Gold ride.   Cancelled due to most riders competing in the club 2-up TTT.

Sunday 25th September
Club Championship and Consolation 25 mile time trial Course E9/25 (A 1060 near Roxwell) First rider off  09.30.
Early ride out to the start of the event (Old Roxwell Road just off A1060) Leaves Chigwell Row    07.45.   19.5 miles.
All other club rides leave 08.15 Redbridge Cycling Centre as follows.
Bronze RideCooksmill Green, Bake House Café.  45 miles.
Long Silver Ride.   Cooksmill Green, Bake House Café via the finish of the club 25,  65 – 70 miles.                      
Short Silver Ride.   Cooksmill Green, Bake House Café. 55 mile.
Gold ride.       Cancelled due to most riders competing in the club 25.

Sunday 2nd October.  
Club Hill Climb Championship.  Banks Lane near Theydon Mount (Course EH01).  First rider off 10.00 am.  
Ride out to the Hill Climb for competitors. Leave Redbridge Cycling Centre. 08.45 eight miles.
All other Rides leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.00 as follows.
Bronze ride.   Via Banks lane (to see riders in the club hill climb), to Ongar Delimores Café.
Long Silver Ride.   Via Banks lane (to see riders in the club hill climb), to the Shed Coffee House, Sawbridgeworth.
Short Silver Ride.  50 mile mystery ride.
Gold ride.  Cancelled due to most riders competing in the club hill climb.

Sunday 9th October.    All rides leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.00.   
Bronze Ride.    Norton Heath Café. 38 miles
Long Silver Ride.  Rayne Station Café.   70 miles.
Short Silver Ride.  Norton Heath Café.  50 miles.
Gold Ride.   50 – 55 miles non-stop around the mid-Essex lanes.

Sunday 16thOctober.   All rides leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.00.                   Bronze ride. Chelmsford, Recess Coffee Shop, Barack Sq., CM2 0UU. 48 miles      Long Silver Ride.   Danbury, Tea on the Green. 65 miles.                                               Short Silver Ride.  Mystery ride.  50 miles.                                                                       Gold Ride 60 miles non-stop through the mid-Essex lanes.

Sunday 23rd October.  All Rides leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.00.
Bronze Ride.  Cammas Hall Farm Tea Barn. 45 miles 
Long Silver Ride.  Cammas Hall Farm Tea Barn. 65 miles
Short Silver Ride.   Cammas Hall Farm Tea Barn.  50 miles
Gold Ride.   60  miles non-stop through the mid-Essex lanes.

Sunday 30th October.  All rides leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.00  (NOTE, British Summer Time ends 2.00 am  – clocks go back 1 hour).
Bronze Ride.  Roydon Mill.  45 miles
Long Silver Ride.  Roydon Mill 65 miles.
Short Silver Ride. Mystery Ride.  50 miles
Gold Ride.  60 miles non-stop through the mid-Essex lanes.

Sunday 6th November.  All rides start Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.00.
Bronze Ride.   Ramsden Heath, Hall & Co. Coffee Shop, Park 45 miles.
Long Silver Ride.   Ramsden Heath, Hall & Co. Coffee Shop, Park 65 miles.
Short Silver Ride.  Ramsden Heath, Hall & Co. Coffee Shop, Park 50 miles.
Gold Ride. 60 miles non-stop through the mid-Essex lanes.

Sunday 13th November.  All rides start Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.00.                   Bronze Ride.   North Weald Aerodrome, the Squadron Café.  45 miles                           Long Silver Ride.  Rayne Station, Rayne.  70 miles                                                         Short Silver Ride.  Mystery ride 50 miles                                                                           Gold Ride.  60 miles non-stop around the mid-Essex lanes.

NOTE.  All those taking part in rides must have with them the following:  pump, spare inner tube with valve of the correct length, puncture outfit, tyre levers, lightweight tool kit and club membership card.

New Members.  New members with previous experience of group riding are always welcome.  Prior to departure you will need to complete a temporary membership form which will be given to you by the ride leader. This will give you free third party insurance whilst on the ride.  After three rides you will be required to join the club.  IMPORTANT. We advise anyone with little or no experience of group cycling to take part in one of our monthly Saturday Introductory rides before you go on a Sunday Club ride. (details of intriductory rides are given on thehome page of this web-site)  Also, the ride leader may wish to cycle one lap of the cycling circuit with new members to ascertain their fitness and experience of group riding before commencing a Sunday ride.

Saturday Training Rides.                                                                                                   40 mile training rides are held every Saturday Morning, leaving 08.15 (NOTE 09.00 from October 1st) from the Cycling Centre. The route is always the same:  Abridge – Toot Hill – Moreton – Fyfield – Willingale – Walls Green – Pigstye Green – Norton Heath – Nine Ashes – Kelvedon Hatch – Navestock – Shonks Mill – Stapleford Abbots – Lamborne End.  NOTE, these are training rides where, unlike Sunday social rides, we don’t wait for stragglers.

Wednesday Rides                                                                                                           These leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.30. Approximately 40 – 50 miles. Various routes. Contact Paul O’Kelly or Frank Smartt on membership@redbridgecyclingclub.co.uk by the previous Tuesday evening so either can advise the ride leader of the number of people turning up.

Other Occasional Social Rides occur throughout the week.  These are publicised on our RCC closed Facebook page.

  1. Hi I am moving back to wanstead in september and am looking for a friendly group. I would be a novice and wondered how fast your introductory rides would go?

    You are very welcome to join us on our next introductory ride, which has now been put back to August 18th. The average speed will be around 12 – 13 mph and we wont leave anyone behind.
