Redbridge CC Sunday Club Rides List

26th October – 30th November 2014

All Sunday social and non-stop rides leave the Redbridge Cycling Centre 09.15 meeting others at Chigwell Row 09.30. 

Bronze rides: approximately 35-40 mile long and will return Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 12.30 – 12.45.                                                                                           Silver rides: vary between 50 – 55 miles will return Redbridge Cycling Centre approximately 14.00 – 14.30 hours.  Occasionally a silver ride might be an all-day ride with a distance approximately 65 – 70 miles returning Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 16.30 hours.                                                                                                                       Gold rides are held every Sunday. They are non-stop and will be around 45 – 50 miles covering mid-Essex.

Approximate average speeds.  Bronze 12 – 13 mph.  Silver 13 – 15 mph.  Gold 17 – 18 mph.

Sunday 26th October                                                                                                   Bronze Ride.    Ingatestone, Pierros café/restaurant, Market Place Ingatestone. 38 miles    Silver Ride.   Café on the Water, Haningfield Reservoir, CM3 8HX Chelmsford   55 miles.

Sunday 2nd November                                                                                                 Bronze Ride.  Short ride to the Bakehouse Café,  Cooksmill Green. 40 miles.             Silver Ride.  Long ride to the Bakehouse Café,  Cooksmill Green. 55miles.

Sunday 9th November                                                                                                   Bronze Ride.
Option 1. Ongar (Delimores Café). 38 miles.   Leave 9.00 for 9.15 departure from RCC
Option 2.  Essex Season Ender Sportive.  42 miles through Mid-Essex starting and finishing Redbridge Cycling Centre. Organised by Sportive UK in association with British Cycling (BC).  Entry Fee £16.50 if entered in advance £25.00 on the day entry.  Start time between 8.00 and and 9.30 am. Silver Ride.
Option 1. All day ride to the Blue Egg, Great Bardfield.  Estimated return time RCC 16.30. Make sure you have lights on your bike. Route undecided but anywhere between 75 – 100 miles depending on weather conditions. miles   NOTE Early start time 8.00 for 8.15 am departure from RCC.
Option 2.  Essex Season Ender Sportive. 72 miles through Mid Essex, The Easters and the Rodings starting and finishing Redbridge Cycling Centre. Organised by Sportive UK in association with British Cycling (BC). Entry fee £19.00 if entered in advance. On the day entry £25.00. Goto for more information

Sunday 16th November  
Club speed judging competition.  Start and finish Coxtie Green by the White Horse.  See how close you get to your predicted speed over a course between 10 and 15 miles around Navestock.  GPS and speedometers will be removed from your bike.  We trust that you won’t use your smart phones  to help you! Start 11.00 am.  Sandwiches and prize presentation in the White Horse afterwards.                                                                 Bronze Ride.  Coxtie Green.  30 miles (40 – 45 miles including the speed judging competition.)
Silver Ride.  Longer ride to Coxtie Green.  40 miles (50 – 55 miles including the speed judging competition)

Sunday   23rd November                                                                                                     Bronze ride  The Mucking Mudlark. A ride across the Essex lowlands to Old Church Hill Laindon onto the café near Mucking at the Thurrock Thameside Nature Park SS17 0RN. 40 miles.
Silver Ride.    Café on the Lake, Haningfield Reservoir.  55 miles

Sunday 30th November
Bronze Ride.   Tour of High Beech and the Gunpowder Park.  Café stop at the Apollo Café Waltham Abbey.  35 miles.                                                                            
Silver Ride.   Sawbridgeworth, The Shed Coffee House.  55 miles

Saturday Training Rides.
40 mile training rides are held every Saturday Morning, leaving 09.30 from the Cycling Centre. The route is always the same:  Abridge – Toot Hill – Moreton – Fyfield – Willingale – Walls Green – Pigstye Green – Norton Heath – Nine Ashes – Kelvedon Hatch – Navestock – Shonks Mill – Stapleford Abbots – Lamborne End.  NOTE, these are training rides where, unlike Sunday social rides, we don’t wait for stragglers, so everyone on training ride should know the route.


NOTE.  All those taking part in rides must have with them the following:  pump, spare inner tube with valve of the correct length, puncture outfit, tyre levers, and lightweight tool kit.

  1. Hi I am moving back to wanstead in september and am looking for a friendly group. I would be a novice and wondered how fast your introductory rides would go?

    You are very welcome to join us on our next introductory ride, which has now been put back to August 18th. The average speed will be around 12 – 13 mph and we wont leave anyone behind.
