Club Rides

Sunday Club Rides. 14th July  - 31st Aug. 2014
IMPORTANT:  It is expected that participants on our club rides wear an approved hardshell helmet. For further information contact Frank Smartt at
All Sunday rides leave Redbridge Cycling Centre 8.00 for 8.15am departure and then 8.30 am at Chigwell Row (except rides heading out via Collier Row)
40 mile Training Ride every Saturday morning leaves the Cycling centre 9.15 for 9.30 departure.  Same route every week.
Bronze rides: approximately 35 mile long and will return Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 12.00 – 12.30.
Silver rides: vary between 55 – 65 miles will return Redbridge Cycling Centre approximately 14.30 – 15.30 hours.  Occasionally a silver ride might be an all-day ride with a distance approximately 75 miles returning Redbridge Cycling centre approximately 16.00 hours.
Gold rides. These are non-stop and will be around 50 – 55 miles covering mid Essex.
Approximate average speeds.  Bronze 12 – 13 mph.  Silver 13 – 15 mph.  Gold 17 – 18 mph.
Sunday 20th July
Bronze Ride.    35 miles Route to be announced, probably Blackmore/Norton heath area 35 miles
Silver Ride.   Felsted.  (between Dunmow and Braintree)
Sunday 27th July
Bronze Ride.  Kelvedon Nuclear Bunker
Silver Ride.  Danbury. The Café in the centre of the village.
Sunday 3rd Aug.
Bronze Ride.  North Weald Railway station.
Silver Ride. All day ride to the Blue Egg café (1 mile south of Great Bardfield on the Great Saling road). Distance 80 miles.
Sunday 10th Aug
Bronze Ride.  Moreton (White Hart) or Ongar (Delimores Café). Venue to be decided.
Silver Ride. Hatfield Forest.
Sunday 17th Aug
Bronze Ride.  Ingatestone. Pierros
Silver Ride.  Little Baddow, Papermill lock.  All-day ride, distance 70 miles
Sunday 24th Aug. 
Bronze ride. Norton Heath.
Silver Ride. Ride into Hertfordshire. Route and destination to be decided.
Sunday 31st Aug. 
Bronze Ride.  White Roding (Bretts)  13 mph average
Silver Ride. White Roding (Bretts)  15 mph average
Saturday Training Rides.
40 mile training rides are held every Saturday Morning, leaving 09.30 from the Cycling Centre. The route is always the same:  Abridge – Toot Hill – Moreton – Fyfield – Willingale – Walls Green – Pigstye Green – Norton Heath – Nine Ashes – Kelvedon htch – Navestock – Shonks Mill – Stapleford Abbots – Lamborne End.  NOTE, these are training rides where, unlike Sunday social rides, we don’t wait for stragglers.

    You are very welcome to join us on our next introductory ride, which has now been put back to August 18th. The average speed will be around 12 – 13 mph and we wont leave anyone behind.
